Mill Creek Campus is an alternative high school that supports approximately 300 students. The 2020 Facilities Enrichment Grant would be used for two specific purposes.
The first purpose would be to design a Student Wellness Center which empowers students to strive for balance and wellness. Many students at our school and in today’s society struggle with mental health and overall social emotional well-being. The space would be designed by students and for students so that they could take time during their day to address their mental health needs. Wellness is an active, ongoing process which involves becoming aware of and taking steps toward a healthier, happier, more successful life. We place great importance on providing students with support to maximize their educational experience and to enrich the overall quality of their lives. The Wellness Center would include therapeutic lighting, stress relief materials, calming strategies, and exercise equipment in order to connect the physical and mental well-being of our students. Cost: $3000.
The second part of the grant would be used for a small business incubator designed to promote entrepreneurship, real world learning, and 21st Century skills. Students who acquire employer-recognized skill sets are more likely to enroll and complete post-secondary education or training. The incubator would include: 1-Ultimaker 3-D printer, 1- Glow Forge laser engraving machine, 1-Cricut die cutting machine package, 1-Miter saw, 1-Table saw, 3 work bench stations, and a F2C heat press t-shirt printing equipment. We need to transform education and prepare students for their future. Cost: $12,000.
